Black Vulcan is a superhero character, primarily known for his appearances in the animated series *Super Friends*. Created for the show by Hanna-Barbera, he first appeared in the 1977 season, specifically the *All-New Super Friends Hour*. He was added alongside other ethnically diverse heroes to broaden the show's appeal.

Black Vulcan possesses the power to generate and control electricity. He can project lightning bolts from his hands, fly by electrifying his legs, and create electric shields. His design features a distinctive costume with a black suit, yellow boots and gloves, and a red cape. He is primarily based on the DC comics character Black Lightning, although changes were made to distinguish the two.

The character has had some minor appearances in other media over the years. He even appears as a character in *The Lego Batman Movie* as one of the heroes appearing at the party. Although his name and powers are the same, Black Vulcan's legacy mainly resides within the *Super Friends* animated universe.
